Might the problem be that I installed it from Chrome?

Possibly, you could always uninstall & reinstall from Edge?
Though I just tried installing from Chrome on W10 & it still places the icon on the desktop & start menu.

Did a system restart and now 2.5beta is in the app list.

Only on the desktop because I put it there. It obviously found it for the app list on the reboot, but I assume the desktop icon is put there by the install.

Humble apologies, the install had put a shortcut icon on the desktop - I just missed it in the clutter! BTW the new version (.01) seems to load fine with the full Ui and remote server enabled
