I would like to be able to click on the composer's name of a given track on Album View and get all instances of this chosen composer including slight variations of the same. Example by clicking on 'George Gershwin' I would be presented with all tracks by 'George Gershwin', but also by 'Gershwin' only or 'G. Gershwin', 'George M. Gershwin' or 'G. M. Gershwin'.
This feature would possibly apply to other tags also - Conductor, Ensemble & Label.
I understand that this request may not be very useful for the classic music collector. However, for a jazz fan this could be extremely useful as very often the tags available from the net are not consistent in displaying the composers' names.
Does that sound interesting and/or feasible?

I don't think any attempt to do this automatically would be reliable - as a human we can make sense of the disparity and decide that all these variations refer to the same composer, but a computer won't know which is a surname and which is a forename, and even if it could you'd have problems with multiple composers of the same surname (eg. Elmer and Leonard Bernstein).
It's the same problem with composer names in the classical genre yes - there are wild variations in how they are tagged - which is why the composer roster is there to allow you to specify a common name for each composer on importing each album (it's a necessary step for me as a classical enthusiast to do this - if I relied on preset tags alone it would be too chaotic and I'd make little sense of the collection without the common reference). You can set jazz composers in this roster if you wish.

Thanks for quick reply. The rooster approach may be the way to go. Is there a way to import data from a txt file directly to the file (which one?) containing the db or do one need to go line after line inserting it in the Options menu?

There's no shortcut or import at present no. I guess that's the feature request!
