AIFF files not recognized ?!?

Post by mvilla »

Hi All,
Just downloaded Muso and have problem in importing AIFF files.
In the log, you can read the following error:

FOLDER IMPORT LOG

FileTypes: .mp3 .mp4 .m4a .flac .ogg .ape .aif .aiff
Folder: \\NAS_SYNOLOGY\Musica_AIFF\African Dawn
. ERROR scanning African Dawn.aiff : TagWrapper creation timeout

What is the problem ? How can I get rid of it ?
Many thanks,
Massimo

If it can't read the tags in 5 seconds it gives up. Do the .aiff files have valid tags embedded?

The files are normally read by HQPlayer or JRiver.
Consider also that this is not due to a specific folder as I tried many different ones
How can I check if tags embedded are valid ?
Thanks for your support

Try a 3rd party tagger like mp3tag or Tag & Rename - though I'm not sure on their level of support for .aiff files.

I've found Kid3 as a tool. I do not find any strange tag. Can I send you a print screen ? How ?

Send it to support@klarita.net - if you could include one of the tagged .aiff files I can investigate further.

Do all .aiff files fail with the same error or do some succeed? Could you temporarily move one to the same computer as Muso is installed and try importing from there? This will test whether it's a slow network causing the timeout.

Will send you later today. Thx for your support
In the meanwhile, answering your questions:

Do all .aiff files fail with the same error or do some succeed? YES

Could you temporarily move one to the same computer as Muso is installed and try importing from there? This will test whether it's a slow network causing the timeout. DONE, SAME RESULT.

OK I'm not sure why the 3rd party tag reader I'm using is failing to read the tags from that file, I will log it - but the new version of muso (2.5.19) will at least import the file with minimal information so you can get it into the muso database and push it to HQPlayer - though you'll have to edit the individual columns in the database editor after importing to get a nice album view in muso.

Hi,
Thanks for your time. I'm in a business trip now and will try again during the week-end.
A tag reader that works fine, with aiff files too, is kid3 if you want to try.
