I have got hold of one of these tiny and ultra-cheap boxes running Android 4.4.2., the MXQ Amlogic S805. These little boxes - very well built and working flawlessly - enclose a full-fledged Android computer hence capable of running

The box has HDMI, SPIF and jack outputs. It has a SD card slot and 4 normal USB 2.0 ports where one can connect a keyboard and a mouse, although the included remote works quite well and efficiently. The USB also is capable of powering a small HD although I did not test that fully.
I bought it locally and paid some EUR40. From the link below (but also from ebay) they can be acquired for a lot less if purchased from China and if one is willing to wait a lot.
The OS comes rooted but the salesman told me that is not always guaranteed.
