How do you use custom tags?

Musicbrainz provides a tag for "Engineer". How do I import this into Muso?

Use a custom field with an Import Action - this will imprt tag ENGINEER into that field.

I followed your example, and I see that I have Engineer as Custom 1.
However, I don't see Engineer on the screen anywhere. Can this appear on the screen?

Which screen? The custom fields can be used in the hierarchy drill down, but there is no attempt to show them on the track or album screen. They are at track level, so the album view would have to cope with multiple values if it were to show them. It's an interesting problem though, so perhaps submit a feature request and I'll look into it. Failing that you could pull the tag into one of the fields that is shown rather than a custom field, eg. album sub-header:
